Privacy Policy

In short: Your payroll and YTD file data never leaves your browser. We don't upload it, store it, or send it to anyone — there's no account and no database for it. We use basic page and button analytics to understand which parts of the Service are used, but analytics never includes your payroll or YTD file contents, row-level payroll data, figures you enter, or feedback text. The only other information we handle is any feedback you choose to email us.

1. Who this applies to

This Privacy Policy explains how QECheck ("we", "us", "our"), operated by Hayley Chin, handles information in connection with the website and tools at qecheck.com (the "Service"). We are committed to handling personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), as a matter of good practice.

2. Our core privacy promise — payroll data stays in your browser

When you load a payroll file, YTD super file or enter payroll figures, all parsing and calculation happen locally in your browser, on your own device. This is how the Service is built, not just a policy:

We do not upload your payroll or YTD files.
We do not receive, process or store your row-level payroll or YTD data on any server.
There is no account, no login and no database holding your payroll information.
When you close or refresh the page, that data is gone from the tool.

3. Information we do collect

a. Basic usage analytics. We use basic analytics to understand how the Service is used. This can include page views, basic interaction events we set up (for example, which tool is opened or which button is clicked), and general technical information such as device, browser and country-level information. Analytics is configured so it never includes your payroll or YTD data, the contents of your files, the figures you enter, or feedback text. Our analytics provider may process limited technical request information in accordance with its own service terms and privacy documentation.

b. Feedback you send us. If you use the feedback option, the message is prepared in your own email client and is only sent if you choose to send it. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. Please don't include sensitive payroll data in feedback — we don't need it.

c. Standard server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically record technical request information (such as IP address, date/time and pages requested) for security and reliability. This is not combined with the analytics above and is not used to identify you.

4. Cookies

QECheck does not use advertising or cross-site cookies. Your browser may keep a small amount of local data needed for a tool to run during your visit; this stays on your device. Analytics is not used for advertising and is configured to avoid cross-site tracking. You can manage local data and cookies at any time through your browser's privacy settings.

5. How we use information

We use the limited information above only to:

operate, maintain and improve the Service;
understand which tools are useful and fix problems;
respond to your feedback or enquiries; and
protect the Service against misuse, and meet any legal obligations.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

6. Who we share information with

We may share the limited information above with the service providers who help us run the Service — including our hosting provider, any analytics provider we enable, and our email provider — and with others where required by law. These providers only handle information for the purpose of providing their service to us.

7. Overseas disclosure

Our hosting and analytics provider may process this limited, anonymous information on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States. By using the Service, you acknowledge this.

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the limited information we hold. The strongest protection is by design: because your payroll data is never sent to us, it is not exposed to any server-side breach. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Retention

Analytics data is anonymous and aggregated and is kept only for as long as needed for the purposes above (and for the period set by our analytics provider). We keep feedback emails for as long as needed to address your enquiry and for our records.

10. Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing us. We will respond within a reasonable time. Because we don't hold payroll data and our analytics is anonymous, most such requests will relate only to feedback emails you've sent us.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — including if we change our analytics or other providers. The current version is always posted here with its "last updated" date.
